Hasami district was famous for its production of common dishware. The rice bowl was originated back into Edo era when the merchants used to serve food on the boat while sailing. The design of the bowl with a higher bottom and focus the weight towards the center prevents the bowl to tip over. The bowl used one of Japanese's favorite traditional wide border pattern.
