The Hasami district of Nagasaki, Japan was famous for its production of common dishware. The rice bowl was originated from the Edo period when merchants used it to serve food on the boat while sailing. The design of the bowl has a higher bottom and a focus of weight towards the center to prevent the bowl from tipping over. This bowl uses the silver grass pattern.
